Sport for Every Pupil, at Every Level

Generally awarded to junior players, or players who have not played a full season of First Team sport and therefore do not qualify for a Scroll Award, but are still worthy of recognition.

Criteria:

• Attendance: 75%+
• Attitude: Exemplary
• Effort: Fully involved and committed
• Sportsmanship: Sets a positive example to the team and the rest of EHS in conduct, dress and bearing

All First Team players in Grades 10–12 who have played at least 50% of the season’s matches are awarded a First Team Tie.

The prestige sporting awards at the school, consisting of three levels: Merit, Colours and Honours. A learner must be a member of a First Team and be in Grades 10–12 to qualify.

Nomination process:

• The coach or team manager lists all team members.
• Players are assessed on their commitment to the team, achievements during the season and sportsmanship.
• First Team players who played or were selected for more than 75% of matches, with a high standard of sportsmanship and commitment, are eligible for a Merit Award.
• Players whose skills and performance distinguish them from the rest of the team may be nominated for a Colours Award at the coach/manager’s discretion.
• Players selected for an U18 provincial side in their sport are eligible for an Honours Award.
• These awards allow learners to purchase the relevant scroll from the clothing store for their blazer.
• All decisions are discussed and ratified by the Sports Awards Committee at the end of each season, which may also adapt criteria at its discretion.
